Ensure you find a great VA Trainer by following the advice given in our Virtual Assistants Trainers ebook.
– Written by VA trainers and experienced virtual assistants.
The SVA often receives complaints from virtual assistants about the standard of training that they’ve purchased. So, in 2018, after receiving more complaints in a single year about virtual assistant trainers than we’d had in the preceding 10 years, we decided to do something about poor virtual assistant trainers, coaches and mentors. We invited a range of trainers and experienced Virtual Assistants to take part in an open forum to discuss this issue, and we came up with a number of things to tackle it. This was not a naming and shaming exercise but a real effort to improve the standard of what was being offered.
Additionally, SVA keeps on seeing “UK VA industry stats” quoted which aren’t statistically valid – according to the Chartered Institute of Marketing, to be statistically valid you need to have surveyed 10% of the subject – i.e. 10% of the UK VA industry. We know there are 6500+ VAs currently working in the UK, so any stats should have at least 600 respondents from the UK. Part of the problem is that anyone can call themselves a VA trainer – it is not a protected term. There are no guidelines as to what virtual assistants should have in place before offering training, coaching or mentoring, and therefore the onus is on the buyer to make relevant checks before purchase.
To address this we invited all the UK VA Trainers, Coaches and mentors and experienced virtual assistants to take part in an open discussion about how we can work to reduce these complaints. The initiative was well supported by UK industry ambassadors. We also received significant support from the international VA community via the VA Admins and Moderators Facebook Group including allowing us to base our guidelines on their own “Core Competencies” document. Our thanks go out to them for giving their time and support to this issue.
If you are contemplating purchasing virtual assistant training, coaching, mentoring or if indeed you would like to become a trainer, this is a great place to start, and we would urge you to download this free document and give it a read.
