SVA Newsletter September 2015
This year seems to be flying, September already! I’ve finally been assigned a council nursery place for my son (7 months after he was supposed to get it!! Grr!) so enjoying a little less juggling and some more cash, which is always nice.
Our survey has been a big hit – I’ve had some lovely feedback from people telling me how they are using it in their own business to get more clients, justify their rates and target new markets. If you don’t have a copy, pick it up here.
And the lovely people at Office* have given us 10 VIP tickets to VA Day on Wednesday 14th October. Click here to enter – more details below.
Enjoy!

On the site…
Time tracking download – Many thanks to Debbie Condon who shared her time tracking Excel spreadsheet, it’s really very clever! Start and stop tasks and simply copy and paste to send the whole lot to your clients.
The Pros and Cons of Working From Home – Guest blogger Helen of Discovering Work Life Harmony discusses the ups and downs of home working and what her own experience has been over the years. Some great points in this one, well worth a read if you are just starting working from home.
Zirtual – What went wrong? – You may have spotted all the headlines in the press regarding outsource firm Zirtual suddenly closing its doors a couple of weeks ago. It was effectively a victim of the Dragon’s Den culture of opening a business. And what’s more, we know that their revised model is still doomed to failure… Learn why (and possibly pick up some tips for your own biz!)!
Calling All Newbies! – We’re doing a little experiment with how we interact with our members… If you are a new VA, please join our specialist Facebook group. It’s a closed group so you can ask all your questions safe in the knowledge that non-VAs/clients can’t see it!
One for the Old Hands – Or if you’ve been a VA for a while, have a quick look at this scheme… We want people to start recognising those who have been long established. It’s a very small thing, but we think it will help!
