Marketing Friday: 5 tips to sell more hours for Virtual Assistants
Here are five ideas which you can work on today – Marketing Friday – to get more business next week!
- Network on online forums in your chosen target market – remember that website link on your signature again!
- Try Linkedin.com to connect with old work colleagues.
- Look out for networking events run by your local council – these range from support networks for young entrepreneurs, women into business groups and tax workshops run by Inland Revenue.
- Send out 2 letters a week to potential new clients in your target market.
That’s a great tip about going to events run by local Council and other business support organisations where you are likely to make new contacts who you wouldn’t necessarily meet at your formal business networking.
Especially because they tend to be free and attract people who wouldn’t normally go to formal networking – is it just me who tends to find the same people at those events??? Alan the Geek calls them “The Usual Suspects” which always makes me laugh!
Great Tips – I haven’t tried any local council run events but attended my first formal networking event recently and did wonder how many of the same people go to every event as so many people seemed to know each other.
I would love to hear any feedback on how marketing letters work for people? I have purchased a database of local businesses from my local library service and it only contains postal addresses. I have drafted a letter but haven’t got round to sending it yet! Thanks
Industry standard from direct mail is a response of 1% – that rises to 5% if it’s a targeted list of people who would be open to your offer, rather than cold prospects.
However you can really ramp up the conversion rate if you follow up with phone calls/postcards/emails. Well worth doing if you are going to the effort of sending out letters!
Thanks Caroline, I actually have some postcards so I am going to crack on with this!
how did you get on Laura?
