So you have a full roster of clients, no more time to sell… But you still want to make more money? Or perhaps you want to cut down the number of hours you actually work without taking a salary cut? Fear no more – we have the answer: Passive income! Passive income is defined as money which you make from your business whether or not you turn up to work – so it might come from affiliate sales (e.g. Amazon, Kashflow etc.) or from products you sell in your business which require no input from you after you set them up – this second type of passive income is what we’re going to concentrate on today!
So what kind of things could you sell?
- Ebooks
- Marketing masterclasses
- Online tutorials
- Ecourses delivered via email
- Exclusive access to areas of your website with insider information
- Podcasts on a particular industry
Just a few ideas!
There’s a couple of ways of delivering e-products:
- www.payloadz.com – Delivers digital products to your customers, although it’s fairly basic in its design and takes your visitors away from your site to purchase. It will then send them the product automatically.
- www.paypal.co.uk Buy It Now buttons – Paypal have a number of “merchant solutions” which you can use to set up “buy it now” buttons on your site – however unless you link your Paypal address with another service, it won’t automatically deliver the goods and you’ll need to send them out manually. Log into your account and click on “Merchant Services” to access info.
- www.aweber.com – We love this for designing and sending email courses. You can integrate it with Paypal’s Buy It Now buttons, so that when someone purchases your product, Aweber automatically sends out the email. Aweber also can schedule emails in sequence – so instead of getting Janaury’s email newsletter, the subscriber gets Emails 1, 2, 3 and 4 in order according to whatever schedule you specify.
- WordPress – like with SVA Premier, you could create a password protected area in your website with exclusive content for subscribers. This has the added bonus of letting people download documents or access training videos.
- www.eventbrite.com – for selling tickets to the event. This allows you to charge for the event and integrate Paypal.
In terms of creating the content – the world is your oyster! Formats that really work well are:- videos, podcasts, webcasts, interactive sessions using either telephone or web conferencing. emails delivering PDF training guides…
Tell us about what has worked well for you? Did you have problems using web conferencing? What barriers did you find were there to targeting customers for this type of product?
